None of the seven formulas is "right"; they're regressions on different lifter populations and exercises. Above ~ 10 reps the error climbs sharply — endurance starts to dominate — so the table greys those rows. Brzycki tends to under-estimate for very strong lifters; Epley and Lombardi over-estimate for high-rep sets. The averaged value is usually closer to a true tested 1RM than any single formula, especially in the 3–8 rep range.
